DIY Cardigan with Lace Heart Elbow Patches

A while ago I bought this shirt from Goodwill for 99 cents. It was originally from Urban Outfitters  A good deal I thought, and comfy too! The only problem was it was a little too high in the neck line for my taste.
I decided I could easily make in into a cardigan by cutting it down the middle, folding both sides in 1/4 inch and sewing it up. So I did just that! (With the help of my mom and her sewing machine. Thanks mom!)
So now I had this really cute and comfy cardigan to go with skirts and shirts and dresses. But I thought what would make this even cuter? Lace elbow patches! Elbow patches are one of my favorite trends and they were easy to make.
First I took some lace that I bought at Joann's for $1 and folded it in half and cut out a heart.

Then I placed the heart on the sweater (where I had previously marked where my elbows land) and sewed it on by hand.

Voila! I cute and trendy sweater for only $2! And when my friends ask me where I got it I can say that I made it! Beauty.

Photo Shoot at Orcutt Ranch

One of my very favorite things to do is random photo shoots. After my best friend Anna and I took out mint green photo shoot we decided to have some fun and explore the beautiful Orcutt Ranch in Woodland hills, CA a little bit more. Here are some shots from our adventure.

The End!

How to wear Mint Green

One of my favorite colors for the past year has been mint green. I just can't get enough of it! Whenever I'm in stores it is what I am immediately drawn to. My love of mint green has grown and so has my wardrobe. Mint is unique, because you can pair it with a variety of colors and it looks amazing. Almost like white or black I took a few mint items from my closet and paired them with a variety of items. I hope it inspires you.

Tardis Gingerbread House

Alright, I know it's not Christmas time, but one of my very favorite shows in the entire universe, Doctor Who returns tonight at 8 o'clock! To celebrate, I'm posting my very own, one of a kind, Tardis gingerbread house. My friend Carissa and I made it last December and I am still very proud of it. All it took was a store bought gingerbread house kit and some homemade icing. (Icing includes powdered sugar and milk and food coloring.)
Step one: Cut all house side pieces into equal rectangle sizes.
Step two: Make the roof by cutting four square pieces to layer them atop each other.
Step three: Ice the top squares blue and the sides 3/4 blue and the top 1/4 white.
Step four: Make black bars on windows and add "Police Box" and white square paper and door handles.
Step five: Paste all pieces together.
Step six: Place a gumdrop on top and there you have it!!

If you love the weeping angels as much as us then add one of those as well.
Enjoy fellow Whovians!

DIY Key Garland

Something I've collected a lot of throughout the years is keys and locks. Keys from diaries. Keys from bike locks. Keys from cabinets. So many little keys. I've collected these keys from probably over 10 years. They've just been sitting in a cup for years. It was high time I used them. I decided to make a garland to hang near my cork board where there was an empty space. It really didn't take long at all!
First I took the keys and locks.
Then I decided what colors I wanted them and chose my paint.
Now this isn't any fancy key paint. Nail polish works just fine. :)
Then I painted them! (On a paper on my bed, very carefully)
Next I took some lace that I had and tied the locks and keys to it.
Then I hung it up! Tada! Super easy. Super cute.

Now I have something to fill that awkward empty wall space. I used tape to tack it up for now, but tied to nails might look prettier. So there you go!

Who is the Kat lady?

Hello! I'm Kat. Nice to meet you. :) I wanted to let you lovely people know just who I am. First and foremost I'm a follower of Jesus. He died for me and I am forever living my life for him. I love my church! Not only do I go to the college group, but I serve in Wildlife, the jr high ministry. You make think I'm a crazy person for hanging out with middle schoolers willingly three times a week, but I love those students and the amazing staff I get to hang out with. we recently finished a four week competition called Tournament Series and it was so fun dressing us and playing games with the crazy kids. Here's a picture of what TS looks like.
I'm a huge family person. I have two wonderful big brothers, Tim and Jon.
Yeah, they're pretty silly, but I wouldn't be able to live without them. Even though they pick on me at times, they are constantly encouraging me and loving on me. I love them! My oldest brother is married to my sister in law, Silvana.
I'm incredibly blessed with a sister that steers me towards the Lord and loves me like we were related from birth. She is the best.
Then there are my parents.
Yep! You guessed it. They are silly too. But they are amazing supporters. I couldn't live without them, literally. The reason I talk about my family in the "About me" section is because without them I wouldn't be me. I love my family and would do anything for them.

However, when it comes to me, well, here it is:
I love Disneyland! It is my home.

I'm a huge nerd. That's right. We're talking Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, Star Trek. You name it, I'm a fan girl of it.

As you can see above, I also love hanging out with my friends and going on adventures. Of course, this one was Disney.Another thing I do with friends, BAKE. (Note the Batman apron. Told you I was a nerd.)

Some might think of adventure as something like this
I like to think that one can live adventures everyday! It doesn't matter if you're going on a 15,000 mile hike of the world, or trying out a new recipe. Adventure can come in the everyday. It's up to you to make it.
